Kornfeld LLP partner Shane D. Coblin has been recognized by Best Lawyers in its 2021 edition of the prestigious ranking, which recognizes the top legal talent worldwide.
Best Lawyers has published an annual guide to the leading professionals in the legal field for more than 30 years. The guide now covers more than 70 countries.
The selection is based entirely on peer review and recognizes lawyers who display outstanding levels of skills and professionalism in their field. The peers are based in the same geographical area as the nominee and work in the same legal practice area.
Best Lawyers announced in August that Shane was recognized among the best litigators in Canada in the Corporate and Commercial Litigation Category. Shane has also been recognized by Benchmark Litigation as a “Litigation Star” and has an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell for the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standing as rated by his peers.
Shane joined the Kornfeld team in 2006. His practice is focused on commercial real estate and business disputes. Shane regularly advises senior executives, in-house counsel, real estate development companies, investors and family-owned businesses and individuals on dispute-avoidance strategies.
Over the course of his 18 years of practice, Shane has developed an intuitive understanding of the dispute resolution process, which has helped him to achieve tremendous success for his clients.
“I see the dispute in my mind. I have a map of where I want to go. I know what the angles are, almost immediately, and I see things that aren’t obvious to a lot of people,” Shane said.
He considers one of his key strengths to be his ability to present an argument in a concise and compelling manner: “You need to be able to communicate a complicated idea in a very short period of time and in a very persuasive manner so that it can be quickly understood and digested,” he said.
In his spare time, Shane enjoys writing and spending time with his family.
