At Kornfeld, Jennifer Lowson will assist clients with their private company transaction and business needs – from buying and selling shares or assets, incorporating a new company or registering a limited partnership, or negotiating and drafting a shareholders’ agreement or commercial contract.
Helping people reach their business goals is what motivates her practice. “I like helping someone achieve what they want to achieve with their business, whether it’s selling their business because they want to retire and capitalize on decades of their hard work, or buying a new asset or business to grow their company,” she says. “My global experience allows me to be flexible and practical in terms of my business advice – I like to think that I can look at problems from a business perspective, and provide sensible and workable solutions for my clients.”
Jennifer started her career at the Sydney-based office of Clayton Utz, one of Australia’s premier legal practices and a leading firm in the Asia-Pacific region. Relocating to Amsterdam, Jennifer worked with the internationally renowned legal firm of Allen & Overy as a Foreign Associate.
After her move to Vancouver in 2012, Jennifer requalified as a lawyer in British Columbia by articling and working with a large regional firm in Vancouver, working predominantly with their Private Company Transactions and Commercial Real Estate groups.
At Kornfeld, Jennifer is excited by the opportunity to work on complex deals in a collegial setting where everyone in the firm is strongly valued for what they bring to the table. Generally, the types of matters the firm handles in mergers and acquisitions and corporate practice include work for institutional clients in larger scale transactions, as well as emerging businesses. Jennifer said that while it was an immense privilege to have worked at larger, globally recognized firms, “the work I’m doing now is very fulfilling – working with locally based, growing businesses – and being able to work directly with an owner of a business and help them achieve their goals is highly satisfying,” she said.
For Jennifer, home is in North Vancouver at the base of the North Shore Mountains and weekends are filled with family and adventures in skiing, trail running and cycling. “It’s great to feel like we’re part of a community there, and I want to contribute to that community,” she said.
